We were delighted to be awarded the Silver Medal in the National Ladies’ Barbershop competition at the start of this month. Even more delighted to become one of the few “A” grade ladies’ barbershop choruses in the UK by achieving a fantastic score of 81.2% across all musical and performance categories.
Our lovely musical director, Helen Lappert, also won an award for the musical director effecting the greatest improvement from her chorus this year, by increasing our score so significantly from last year’s 78.6%.
We performed two of our favourite songs, “Some Enchanted Evening” – a Rogers & Hammerstein ballad, arranged in a cappella style by the marvellous David Wright, and a sultry, contrasting choreographed up-tempo medley of the well-known Sway and Save the Last Dance For Me. If you’d like to see our performance – check out our video links!
And next on the scene is preparing for the Festive period! Traditionally one of our busiest times of year, we’ve been adding the final glittery touches to our Christmas repertoire in preparation for our appearances in the local area.
