Harmarni
Harmarni got together first in 2010, over cake and tea, to sound out compatibility. Well, as nobody smokes, everyone drinks (in moderation) and all four loved Assam tea, mallow wafers and chunks of carrot cake it was thought to be a good blend and that was it!
It is of significant benefit that 50% of this group live in the same house!
Lead – Angharad (Hari) Birtles
Hari joined Amersham A Cappella after graduating from Cardiff University in 2009. Hari has a long history in dance and music , (well, as long as you can have when you are only 22!) having performed at many noteable venues including The Albert Hall, Guildford Cathedral, Sadlers Wells and The Haymarket Theatre. Whilst at Chesham High School she directed her house choir and continued this interest by establishing and directing a choir at Aberdare Hall in Cardiff University. The choir had members of seven different nationalities and was a great fundraising success. Now Hari is musical director of the fantastic Ivy League girls youth chorus in LABBS and is Lead assistant section leader in Amersham A Cappella.
Tenor – Joanna Birtles
Jo joined Chiltern Harmony at Christmas 2005 after being smitten on hearing them singing caroles in Amersham Old Town and having got rid of both children to University she at last had time to devote to her own interests!
Singing both for pleasure and competitively in annual Eisteddfodau was a normal part of life when she was growing up inĀ the last millenium!!
