Competing

Competing

As part of our onwards and upwards drive, one of the things that really keeps us on our toes is the wealth of other talent out there in the UK, Europe and beyond. What better way to keep improving and honing our ability, than singing alongside some of the crème de la crème of British, European and other international choruses? (It also helps that we’re great friends with these other choruses, so competing becomes a meeting of the likeminded to share thoughts and ideas, and of course to sing and have fun!).

This makes competing an integral part of our social calendar and even if we say so ourselves, we do it rather well whether as fellowcompetitors, supporters or at the postcompetition parties (called ‘afterglows’).

For a list of our recent accolades, see our Trophy Cabinet.

All in all, we’re delighted to have continuously improved on all our singing and performance scores across all competitive events to date, and our aim is to keep working hard to maintain this!

LABBS

The club is a member of LABBS (Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers) and we attend an annual LABBS convention that is usually held over a weekend at the end of October/beginning of November.

The convention is an important event in our calendar and is, primarily, a national competition for both quartets and choruses.

Amersham A Cappella has won gold, silver and bronze medals over the past few years, we are the current UK champions for 2016/2017.
